ACOS Calculator: Calculate Your Amazon Advertising Profitability
Quick Definition
An ACOS calculator computes your Advertising Cost of Sales, ROAS, TACoS, and break-even ACOS to determine whether your Amazon PPC campaigns are profitable.
ACOS, ROAS, and TACoS Explained
ACOS (Advertising Cost of Sales) = Ad Spend ÷ Ad Revenue × 100. ROAS (Return on Ad Spend) = Ad Revenue ÷ Ad Spend — the inverse of ACOS. TACoS (Total Advertising Cost of Sales) = Ad Spend ÷ Total Revenue × 100, including organic sales. A 25% ACOS means you spend $0.25 in ads for every $1 of ad-attributed revenue. ROAS would be 4x. If your total revenue (organic + paid) is double your ad revenue, your TACoS is 12.5%.
Break-Even ACOS
Your break-even ACOS is the maximum ACOS where you still make zero profit — not losing money. It equals your pre-ad profit margin. If your product sells at $24.99 with $8.00 in COGS and $3.75 in Amazon fees, your pre-ad profit is $13.24 or 53% margin. Your break-even ACOS is 53%. Any ACOS below that is profitable. Target ACOS should be 10-15 percentage points below break-even to leave room for actual profit.
PPC Management Tools
Helium 10's Adtomic ($79/month+) automates bid management and tracks ACOS. Jungle Scout's Advertising Analytics ($49/month+) provides campaign-level ACOS reporting. Perpetua, Quartile, and Pacvue are enterprise-level PPC platforms ($500+/month). Sellerboard ($19/month) tracks ACOS alongside all other costs for true profit reporting. Scale Insights offers rule-based bid automation.
